Founder
A word from the founder
I am Charlie Sexton, founder of That's Sow Charlie. I'm so passionate about my allotment, I decided to turn it into my job. The vision behind That's Sow Charlie was to empower women to realise they too could have their own allotment or their own space in the garden to grow veg. This isn't just about growing veg though, it's about building your own happy place. Somewhere that's a sanctuary where you can be at one with nature, in your own world and away from the everyday stresses.
I realised how the allotment had been my place to process thoughts, make friends, nurture and get my hands in the soil. I could see how other women could benefit from this too. I came up with the idea in 2023 to start a subscription box filled with great products that women would need for starting out on their growing journey. The box is for women so I can make it specific to you.
Growing veg and fruit gives me so much joy and I get so much from it, including a sense of calmness, achievement and freedom. A feeling of resilience and great learning when things go wrong and a sense of pride when it all goes right. Either way, it's been so good for my mental health.
My favourite time to go up to the plot is when it's a still evening, tucking all my babies in bed for the night and just sitting and watching the swifts as the sun goes down.
